Our Favorite Peru Photos: Part 1

Out of thousands of Peru photos (I think I was a little click happy in our first country), we chose 21 of our favorites. This selection was taken along the central coast of Peru including the cities of Lima, Pisco, Paracas, and Huacachina. Peru is an incredible country filled with a deep and colorful culture, breathtaking landscapes, and proud people. It was our favorite country on this trip so far until we recently experienced the Chilean Patagonia : ) We hope our photographs inspire you to day dream about a wondrous new place and take the next step in planning your trip to Peru!

Islas Ballestas – The “Poor Man’s Galapagos”

Poop. Bird poop. Everywhere. Imagine entire islands covered in knee-deep bird poop with millions of birds making it deeper by the second. Imagine thousands of birds circling overhead making you wish you bought the $4 hat from the guy selling them on the dock. Although grabbing a small bandana from your daypack works in a pinch to protect you from bird-bombs – plus they look super stylish.

This is Islas Ballestas, a few outcroppings of red and white rock off the south coast of Peru. Once we got over our initial fear of being pooped on, the islands were teeming with amazing Peruvian wildlife (even animals outside the bird family).
